The common property of all objects with four corners or sides is abbreviated to an abstraction called "quadrangle". This abstract quadrangle can, if desired, given all of the specific properties of the individual objects, so this quadrangle stands for any of the real objects. This abstract quandrangle itself is of course an non-real, non-existing, one, which is here denoted by putting it inside a circle, and by removing aspects like color. The quadrangle is an abstraction of level 1, an abstraction derived directly from real objects.
